Introducing the new fall line~ "Dreamy"

The time has finally come for me to introduce the first pieces of my fall line. First, I want to tell you a bit about what to expect.

The "Dreamy" line has been designed with rich shades of blue and splashes of purple, accented with creamy, natural colors. The "Dreamy" pieces have been created using lovely gemstones and Swarovski crystals and accented with sterling silver findings. Sodalite, Lapis Lazulis, Amethyst and Fluorite. Riverstone, Mother of Pearl and Aragonite. These are only the beginning.

I plan on listing the first few pieces from the "Dreamy" line in my Etsy shop tonight.

Kyanite, Blue Apatite, Chrysocolla


In the box along with my supply order last week, was the June-September catalog from Firemountain Gems and Beads. There on the first 2 pages were breathtaking shades of blue and green. Kyanite, Blue Apatite, Chrysocolla. I have always been fond of shades of blue and green, so it is no surprise that these pages totally drew me in.


Chrysocolla...

Chrysocolla is similar to malachite, but more bluish. It is often confused with turquoise. blue/green color comes from copper. Due to its mineral composition, chrysocolla is a very delicate stone and should be treated much like pearls.

Blue Apatite...

Kyanite...

Kyanite is a translucent blue/gray stone with a metallic shimmer.

I'm not sure how yet, but I am hoping to work some of this lovely color into some of my summer designs. Right now, I'm thinking Chrysocolla with copper. We'll see!

Gemstone Spotlight~ Lapis Lazuli

The gemstone spotlight is a new feature I'm starting. I am not a gemstone expert, so this is all information I have collected. I want to introduce my readers to some gemstones while learning more about them myself.

Lapis Lazuli is one of the hot gemstones for this spring/summer season. This lovely gemstone gets its name from two Latin words; "Lapis" meaning stone, and "Azuli" meaning blue. Lapis Lazuli is sometimes used as a semi-precious substitute for the September birthstone, Sapphire.

Lapis Lazuli is a blue gemstone bearing flecks or feathering in silvery white or brassy yellow The depth of blue color varies greatly as well. The white inclusions are created by white calcite and the brassy inclusions are created by pyrite. The finest Lapis Lazuli has even blue color with little or no veining from other elements.
